Shoes that love you!

Recently the wonderful people at Oka b. sent me the best shoes to try out!  I am in lurve with them!!!!!  they are adorable for one thing:

Not only are they adorable, but they are comfortable too!    Two reasons that I love them, but wait, there is more:

Reflexology inspired design, antimicrobial and odor resistant, non-slip and non-marking, microplast technology (see more about this below), machine washable and colorfast, one-piece construction, tons of colors and styles, made in the good old USA and vegan friendly.  Wow,  can you believe it???  I know.  It's amazing!

Microplast technology provides a lightweight, flexible shoe that remains comfortable yet durable.  The chemical make up is poly vinyl chloride which is made from salt and fossil fuel, so they are good for the environment as well!

The Oka b 2010  Winter Collection has been unveiled this month at the New York Show Expo and was inspired by the calming tones of the Mediterranean seascape.    There are many designs to choose from - thongs, ballet slippers, mules, slides and heels and they even have a bridal collection.

You have to check them out - another great thing, the price ranges from $20 - $40.  What more could a girl want?? Oh and guys, I didn't forget about you - they have a men's line of shoes as well.  Something for everyone!

Check out Oka b for your shoes that love you on facebook.  and on twitter!

Get yours today and you can be living the high life with shoes that love you!

Fit Club Monday - Turbo Edition

I just finished my Turbo Fire 45 and Stretch 10 workout.  I am loving this workout.  Even though my back is still bothering me, I am burning calories like crazy - 411 calories and still buring as I type this!!!  I modifying a lot of the moves.  I know that I'd be burning even more calories if I could go full blast!  The music is really good, the workout is good!

So, on this Fit Club Monday, what are you doing for your workout?  Remember, even walking is a good workout.  Just be sure to do something.  If you don't love working out, then you just haven't found the right workout yet!  If you are looking to find that perfect workout, let me know.  I can help you find something that you will look forward to doing!

You guys know how much I love journaling and think it is so important, and imagine how excited I was when I saw that the deluxe version of Turbo Fire came with a journal!

I like that it is small enough to carry in my purse.  I'll have it with me wherever I am so there is no reason not to keep track of my stats!

If you'd like to order your own Turbo Fire, just click here!  Remember if you see the infomercial on tv, please order from my site.  It's the same price and you get to have me as your coach!  I'd really appreciate it!  That goes for all Beachbody products!

Recipe:

Eggplant Stacks

I didn't get these made to take a photo yesterday as planned, but I am having a girlfriend over for lunch and we are going to make these today!  So yummy!

1 eggplant - sliced fairly thick
1 yellow squash or zucchini (your choice) also sliced fairly thick
olive oil
1 jar prepared spaghetti sauce
Daiya cheese
basil

Brush the eggpland and squash slices with olive oil.  Grill the eggplant and squash slices for a few minutes on each side until close to being cooked completely.  I had to just saute them in a sauce pan today, the gas grill doesn't have any gas AAGH!

On a cookie sheet - layer the eggplant and squash slices with spaghetti sauce in between the layers. I like 3 layers.  2 eggplant and 1 squash.  Top with more spaghetti sauce and the cheese and chopped basil.

Put in the oven - I like to broil them, but you could bake them, just to finish cooking and brown the top!

So tasty!  Enjoy!

Discussion:  Do you shop at the farmer's market?  I love going each weekend and LOVE the fresh, local produce!!!!  What is your favorite item to purchase?  This week, we bought fresh bread, blackberries, green beans and new potatoes, corn on the cob and onions.  Gonna be a GREAT meal!

Family Fun Times!

Hopefully, you are going to take a little time today for some pampering. Enjoy it while you can!

Last weekend, we were at the lake. Madelyn had a great time in the water and we got some cute photos of her!! I hope you don't mind me sharing a couple. She's just so darn cute (sounds like every other grandparent in the world!!)

Jake forgot to bring shoes to swim in the lake with, this is what he came up with.  We were laughing so hard.  It reminded me of when the women in China would bind their feet to keep them small.  He was trying to walk in them, didn't do a very good job and his feet hurt afterwards!

I am in the mood for ice cream.  I am thinkingI will make some today.  I love the cookbook Vice Cream for the best vegan ice cream

Not sure what kind I will make, but I'll be sure to take some photos.  If you don't eat dairy - you should get this cookbook!  YUM!!!!!

I got some great looking squash and eggplant from a friend!  I'm going to make eggplant stacks.  I'll be posting the photos and the recipe on Monday!  Something to look forward to. We are also going to the Shrimp Boil today.  It is a fund-raiser for the local Y, it will be a lot of fun, Brian is helping with the cooking!

Friday Challenge - take care of your tootsies!

This week's challenge will be a little easier than last week's (month long) challenge!!  We are going to take care of our feet.  Sandal season is here and let me tell you, my tootsies have been neglected through the winter and colder months.  So, over the weekend, your challenge is to do a little mini-pedi!

This procedure should take no more than 30 mins,  but you will be so happy with the results!  Our feet take a beating, so be nice to them!

Start by filling a small tub with warm water - and add a tsp of essential oil to make the water smell nice (if you don't have any a little lemon juice will be just as nice!)

Use a scrubby and scrub those feet and especially any areas of rough skin.

Dry your feet really well afer soaking and scrubbing, making sure to get between the toes.

Take off any nail polish you have on, cut and trim your nails as you like.  I have found that it is best to cut the toe nails straight across, take a cuticle stick and push the cuticles back.  You shouldn't cut them,   then get a good moisturizing lotion and massage into feet (if you can get someone to do this for you, go for it!)

Apply some nail polish that you like and looks good with your skin coloring!  Put on a clear base coat and then 2 coats of polish, as this will help to prevent the nail from discoloring!

Look for a reivew of these adorable shoes on Tues!!!!!

Your feet will be happy, you will have a little downtime and pampering which is so important!  Enjoy yourself, put on some good music and relax!!

Update on last week's month long challenge!

It has almost been a full week on the Kind Diet vegan eating challenge.  I am feeling lighter and have more energy.  I've had some really good meals and then yesterday was such a busy day it was eating on the run, but I've done pretty good!

Apple Cinnamon Walnut Oatmeal, great and filling!

Tostada, Kinda - I didn't have any tortilla's so I put it on a bed of lettuce.  YUMMY!

Tofu Scramble using veggies on hand and adding turmeric.  Brian thought it looked like a science project gone wrong, but one of my favorites!

Fried Rice using veggies I had on hand!  Loved it!

Discussion:  Have you been following the challenges?  Which one has been your favorite so far and what would you like to see in future challenges?

Thursday tip

This tip is one that I have been trying and it works!  Guys, this probably doesn't really apply to you, but you never know ;)

Now that bathing suit season is here, shaving is pretty much a daily occurence for me.  So, to avoid those pesky little red bumps that come with shaving in the binkini area, when you get done shaving and get out of the shower.  Dry off really well and then put deodrant on the bikini line.  I don't know how it works, but it does.  No more red bumps or ingrown hairs.  Voila, problem solved!

If you try it, let me know how it works for you!

I have had the busiest day today and I can not believe that I am just now getting my Thursday post done.  I got some really cool items in the mail today. Can't wait to review them.

We kept Madelyn over night last night and we are worn out.  I can't believe that I raised three boys and one little girl just wears me out!  We had a blast and can't wait to do it again, but for now, I am off to bed!

I'll be back tomorrow morning with a new weekly challenge and an update and photos of some of the great meals I am having from the Kind Diet!

This is a book that everyone can enjoy and I think kids would love it!  When this book came in the mail, Brian and Jake jumped on it and started looking through it.  All kinds of conversations have been had over the questions and answers.

Want to know the answers to the questions?  You are in luck!  I have a copy to giveaway!  Yay!

Fit club Monday

Good Morning!  We stayed over one more night at the lake.  I am blogging from the deck, listening to the birds chirp and looking out over the water.  It is so peaceful and quiet first thing in the morning here and it isn't too hot yet.  It's been soo hot the last few days.  I even got a little overheated yesterday when we went out on the boat.  I didn't have enough water yesterday and sitting in the sun wasn't the greatest idea I've had in a while.  But, it was fun!

I have changed the time of Fit Club to 7 PM in hopes that more of you will be able to make it! For those of you that don't live in the area, we can always meet in WOWY, the online super gym.  When you join Team beachbody as a free member, you get access to WOWY. (Work Out With You).  You can log in to your account (get your free membership here and I'll be your coach!)  You don't have to do Beachbody workouts to enter WOWY.  You can walk, jog or swim  - whatever you like!  When you log your workouts, you have a chance to win cool prizes ( cash, ipods, camera, camcorders)

Today's Recipe:

Simple and easy - P B & J Oatmeal

Mix your oatmeal as usual ( I prefer to make mine with water).

Add in 1 Tbsp natural peanut butter and 1 tsp jam of choice.

I also add in a dash of almond milk.
Mix and enjoy!!!!

Discussion:  Do you think that having a prize or incentive makes you more likely to workout?  I think it certainly makes it more fun!!

The Challenge

Since we are starting our challenge tomorrow for those of you BRAVE enough :)  I wanted to get some guidelines inplace.

Start date:  Monday June 21, 2010 - the challenge lasts 4 weeks!

We will take our weights and measurements on Day 1 and you can take them no more than once per week.

We will follow the meal plan from the Kind diet book by Alicia Silverstone.  You can be a flirt, a vegan or a superhero or a combination of the three.  It is up to you.  If you only want to follow along for one week or one or two meals per day, that is fine, it is up to you.  Make the plan work for you.

Exercise every day for at least 30 mins.  It can be any type of exercise you want.  If you need ideas, let me know.  I can help.  Walk, jog, run swim, bike, DVD's or go to the gym.  Whatever you like to do and enjoy doing.  Take one rest day per week.  On this day go for a shorter, slower walk or stretch.

So, there it is.  We will look better, sleep better and most definitely feel better after 4 weeks of this plan!

If you have any questions, you can post them here or on the Feeling Fit with Dana facebook page!  I'll get them answered as soon as possible.

Lake fun and father's day!

We so enjoy coming to our lake place and just hanging out, playing on the water and having a good time with friends and family!

How about a little down time in the hammock?

Get your suit on and let's go on the boat!

We came down last night and sitting on the deck listening to the birds is so relaxing.  This morning a momma deer and her baby walked through our yard.  The fawn was jumping and playing and then they wandered off.
It was so cool and I love seeing all the animals around. Of course, my camera was in the house!

Today we don't have much planned, the kids are here with Miss Madelyn, a little swimming a little cookout and then tomorrow Nick and Jake are coming for Father's Day.

It is one of my favorite ways to unwind and take it easy.  Spending time with friends and family!

My back is bothering me again.  It hasn't hurt like this in a while, not since I first hurt it doing Insanity.  So, I'm laying off the exercise, stretching and a little yoga are on the agenda for the next few days.  I'm a little upset about it, I really wanted to start Turbo Fire on Tuesday.  It is scheduled to be here on Monday.  I'm so excited to get it!  Can Not Wait, and now I have to listen to my body and let it heal before I go full blast again.

I am looking to add members to my team of Beachbody Coaches.  If this is something you would like to do, please let me know.  We need people that want to help others get healthy and fit!!!!  It is a fun and rewarding job for sure!  If you are in my area, we are having a Beachbody Biz Opportunity meeting on Tuesdays.  Let me know and I'll get the info to you so you can come and check it out!

I'll be back for Fit Club Monday night, so in the meantime, have a wonderful Father's day to all the fathers out there.  Enjoy your day with your family!

Happy Father's Day Daddy!  I love you and miss you and can't wait to see you soon!!!

Friday Challenge - it's a doozy!

It is Friday!  Whoo-Hoo!  We are heading to the lake for Father's Day and will have so much fun on the water and celebrating!  Can not wait!!

Friday Challenge:

This is a good one!  If you have wondered about a vegan diet, then this is the challenge for you!  I am going to host a one month vegan/exercise challenge!  We can post here and on my Feeling Fit With Dana facebook page.

I will be following the Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone's meal plan.  We will do some form of exercise, can be whatever you like to do - walking, running, biking, DVD's or going to the gym.  Whatever you will do on a daily basis.

We are going to start on Monday June 21, so you have time to pick up a copy of the book and get your groceries.

Now, you can participate for a few days or the whole time.  There is no pressure, it is just to see how great you can feel when you eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables!!  You really will look better, feel better and even sleep better!

Keep a food and exercise journal, try some new recipes and see if it works for you!

So, who is in?

Discussion:  Do you have special plans for Father's Day weekend?  Any traditions you participate in?  We usually go to the lake and have a big cookout.  I really wish I could see my dad more often!   Love you Daddy!!!

Turbo Fire in the house!

I have been waiting for Turbo Fire to be released every since I tried it at the Beachbody Coaches Summit and yesterday my waiting is over ( well, kind of).  Turbo Fire is now available!  I was on Twitter and Facebook watching Carl Daikeler's posts and awaiting the news of the release.  He was teasing us a bit, but it was released and I raced over to my teambeachbody.com page to order.

Now I just have to wait for it to be shipped.  Oh the anticipation!  I was like a little school girl yesterday, so giddy and clapping and Brian was looking at me like I was a fool!  I loved every minute of it.  Twitter and Facebook were on fi-yah with the news.  It was fun to see how many of the other Beachbody people were ordering and encouraging their customers to do the same.  So man of us have been waiting on it!

It is available for purchase now through a Beachbody coach, if you were waiting on it too, get your copy here:  Turbo Fire.  I will be your coach and I can help you get the best results possible.  We can do it together and report in with each other to stay accountable!

Over 1200 copies were sold in the first 2 hours.  It is CRAZY!!!!

So, my back is bothering me again.  I hurt it doing Insanity about 3 months ago now and it flares up every now and again.  I am going to stretch and do yoga for the rest of the week and hopefully it will recover in time for my Turbo Fire to get here.

Anyone watch Top Chef last night?  I love that show and get excited for it to come on.  Any favorite cheftesant yet?

Discussion:  What do you do when you have an injury that prevents you from working out?  Do you baby it along, push through?  I'm looking for any ideas here!

Anyone interested in a workout challenge?  I'm thinking about putting on together so if you'd participate, let me know.  I'll get working on it!!

Enjoy Life

Still waiting on my computer to be back.  I'm really starting to get used to not having it now.  This is strange :)  I do know that I am getting more and more done during the day, but I have no idea what is going on over at some of my favorite online sites. :)

Brian and I have planned our next get-away vacation!  We are so excited to go - 1 month from today!  We are going to Santa Fe and Colorado Springs!  I will be looking for fun things to do, I know there will be several things I don't want to miss and I'll be looking for a couple of good vegetarian restaurants.  If you know of some in the area, please let me know.

Snacking on the road is sometimes a challenge.  I like to have healthy treats that are easy to eat on the run.  Enjoy Life Foods recently sent me some of their new trail mixes.  Brian and I both love trail mixes and I even sometimes make my own.  So yummy, but Enjoy Life's are really good!

These are tasty, healthy snacks that are great for around the house or on the go!

Here is a great recipe from Enjoy Life Foods that uses the Mountain Mambo trail mix:

Mountain Mambo Crunch

Ingredients:

1 package Enjoy Life Mountain Mambo Trail Mix

1-1/2 C Enjoy Life Perky's Crunchy Rice Cereal

1-1/2 C Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips

½ t vegetable oil (your preference; we used safflower oil)

Directions:

1. In a large bowl, combine Mountain Mambo Trail mix and Crunchy Rice cereal.

2. Melt the chocolate chips over a double burner or in the microwave.

3. Add oil into the chocolate.

4. Pour chocolate over the Trail Mix/Cereal combination and immediately spread thin on a parchment or Silpat-lined baking sheet.

5. Cool in the freezer or in the refrigerator.

6. When completely cool and hard, break into pieces and serve immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Check out Enjoy Life on Facebook and Twitter!

Discussion:  When I travel I am going to catch up on some reading.  I love to read and just can't always find the time to do it daily.  I do read my personal developement books daily, but I love to read for pleasure as well.  What is the book you feel I shouldn't miss!  I'll need to pick some up before we leave on our trip!  I love all kinds of books!!

Fit Club Monday

Good Monday Morning!  As you know I love Monday's.  It's a fresh start to a new week.  It you didn't like last week, here is a chance to have a do over!!!

I have been working out in the mornings - bright and early!!  It's hard to crawl out of bed at 5:30 when you haven't slept well, and my buddies decided not to brave the rain this morning and I slept on instead of getting up.  I'm okay with that, I'll still get my workout done today!

Do you like to get your workouts done first thing?  I really don't think there is a best time to workout, the best time is whenever you will do it.  Just make sure to get it done!  That is the important part!

Today's Featured Workout:

Turbo Fire!  I can not wait for this to come out - Only 4 more days!!!!

If you want to order it when it comes out on the 18th, head over to my website - missourifitclub.com and click on the shop button!  This one is GREAT.  We got to try it at summit and I  loved every minute of it!

Turbo Fire is the total-body, cardio-conditioning program with the best trainer, the best music, the best workouts and the best spot in class!

Today's Recipe:

Summer is here and I always look for great dips and hot weather recipes to stay cool and serve at parties!

Pico De Gallo - Neal Barnard, MD from The get healthy, go vegan cookbook!

This salsa is at its best wen absolutely fresh.  Serve with corn tortilla chips, as a topping for your favorite burrito or in a cheeseless quesadilla.

1 large sweet onion, such as Maui or Vidalia, chopped
15 Roma Tomatoes (about 2 lbs) chopped
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
1 cup firmly packed cilantro leaves and tender stems, chopped
1 tsp kosher salt
2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl and serve.

Discussion:  What is your favorite hot weather dish?    I love all kinds of dips, easy to make and easy to eat!

a bad romance

I am breaking up.  I've had an unhealthy obsession with my scale for a long time.  I think it is a love/hate relationship and I'm going to finally put an end to it.

Dear scale,

I am so sorry that I have to tell you this, it is time for you to go!  I have wined and dined you, pleaded and cajoled until I can't take it anymore.  We have rejoiced and cried and now I have to end it all.  I think it is best if you just go quietly and no one will get hurt.  I'll keep in touch.

Dana

There have been times that I have been known to weigh myself 3-4 times per day.  This is not right and I need to stop obsessing over a number on the scale.  I keep the scale in my bathroom and I used to weigh first thing in the morning, then when I would take a shower and before I went to bed.  I told you it wasn't a good thing!    So, I'm moving the scale, putting it away and not going to weigh for a while.  I'll go by how my clothes fit and quit obsessing over the whole thing.

I have a number stuck in my head that I think I should weigh.  Not sure that this is where my body should be, for all I know I am at the healthy weight I should be.  I am close to my goal and it seems that I can't get there and have weighed pretty much the same amount for more than a year.

I think if I quit obsessing over a number, I will be happier, so goodbye scale.

Chalene Johnson, creator of Turbo Jam and Chalene Extreme and the soon to be released Turbo Fire said on facebook this week:

Be your best at your age and with your current situation. Trying to obtain a weight or a size you were long ago maybe unrealistic. Take joy in being you who are. God doesn't make mistakes, but we sometimes mistreat what he has made.

So, I am going to take this advice and be my best!

Discussion:  How often do you weigh yourself?  What are your thoughts about the scale?

Friday Challenge - Fiberlicious!

I am really having a day today!  Ca- rahhhzzzyyyy!

It is Friday and that means it is a challenge day.  I was racking my brain (it's a little fried today) trying to come up with something when I noticed on my facebook page that Bob Harper has a GREAT challenge today!  So, I am going to go with Bob!  He's just adorable isn't he?

It's all about FIBER!  Fiber is so important in our diets, not only to keep things, ahem, moving, but also to keep us feeling fuller longer.

So, check out Bob's website for the Fiber Challenge!  What are great food sources of fiber - fruits with skins, beans, peas, oatmeal, nuts and veggies and of course, Shakeology  Boost - The Fiber!

So, since today is half over for me, I will be doing this challenge tomorrow.  I highly encourage you to try it and see how it goes for you!  Be sure to let me know how you do!  Some people find it really hard to get fiber in their diet.  How do you do on a daily basis?

I love chai lattes and now that it is HOT, I am loving iced chai lattes.  Rishi Tea recently sent me their Masala Chai Tea Concentrate.  This is good. Super easy to make and super tasty!

I made Brian and I an iced chai and we set off in the Jeep and were able to stay cool and have a nice treat!

I put equal parts Masala Chai concentrate and soy milk in the blender with ice.  YUM!

Motivation Challenge & Friday Follow - me

Good Morning!  Tuesday Julie and I went to Tulsa and had a great time!  We shopped until we dropped and then we found a cute little coffee shop and stopped in for a cool drink.  It has been so hot.  Of course, I love summer and the hot weather, but whew, we needed a cold drink.  I had the best frozen chai!

Friday Challenge:

A lot of you have told me that you are lacking motivation.  I feel that when we feel unmotivated, we are unhappy with something in our lives.  So, to get that part of our lives back in order I recommend reading and listening to personal development books.  My favorite is The Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen. I think you should immerse yourself in positive thinking, so reading for just 10 minutes per day and then listening to 10 mins of audio every day will help you to stay on track!  You can choose any book/audio that you love.  I really like Dani Johnson, Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn, I have many books and audio that I keep on hand just so I can always have something to grab.

Right now I am reading Women, Food and God.  I just started it, but it is going to have me look at my relationships on all levels.

I am listening to Dani Johnson's Unlimited Success Personal Achievement Program. This will help me personally and in my business.

So the challenge is to read your own personal developement books and listen to your audio daily.  20 mins per day is all you need.  I love to listen to my audio while I am driving.  Talk about using your time wisely!

You can accept this challenge for one book/audio or as an ongoing challenge.  Whatever works best for you!

Please let me know if you decide to take on this challenge.  I can suggest several books and audio!!!  I want to know if you find it helpful or not!

Friday Follow!

I missed out on the last few Friday Follows.  It's been crazy busy around here and I just haven't been able to spend as much time on the computer.  I still don't have my computer fixed yet.  I found out it is under warranty, that is a good thing, but it means that I have to send it in and wait on them to fix it and send it back.  Another 10-15 days. UGH!  Sharing a computer is pretty much cramping my style!

But, I am making it a point to do Friday Follow today.  I have missed it and love finding new friends and blogs.  So, if I haven't followed you back, I am on it today!

Make time for yourself

So many times we don't take the time needed for ourselves.  We are busy.  Busy with work, busy with kids and spouses and just plain running around like crazy.  But, if we don't take the time to take care of ourselves with exercise and proper nutrition, sleep and relaxation, we will end up being forced to take it.  Trust me, it's a lot more expensive this way.  Hospital stays or doctors visits are not cheap!

The definition of busy says it all:

1 a : engaged in action : occupied b : being in use

2 : full of activity : bustling

3 : foolishly or intrusively active : meddling

4 : full of distracting detail

I think I have been busy in all those ways :)

The more we run around stressed out and eating on the run, the more we run the risk of getting sick, being tired and not sleeping,  gaining weight or losing too much weight, feeling run down and just plain ol' crabby.

So, we know what we need to do, how do we do it?

1)  Get organized.  Keep a to-do list and schedule your workouts.  Treat it just like any other appointment in your day.    Refer to your to-do list many times throughout the day, stay on track and you will be able to get more done in a shorter period of time.  Avoid the time-robbers.  Internet, tv, and anything else that you do mindlessly.  I know I am so addicted to facebook and twitter and phitter.  It's crazy.  I can be on the computer for hours and not even realize how much time has gone by.   If you are like this, I have found that setting a timer for an alloted time and then when it goes off, turn off the computer or tv.  Get up and move!!

2)  Take a few moments each day to pray or meditate.  Really, 5 mins is all you need.  Just sitting still and being in the moment.  Talking with God, listening or getting focused before the day begins makes all the difference in the world and at night will calm you down so that you can sleep better and relax.

3)  Plan and prepare - your meals that is.  Make your list of what you are going to eat for the week and stick with it.  Take one day to grocery shop and get as much food prepped as you can.  wash and chop your veggies and fruit so you can have snacks on the go.  Bag almonds for snacks that will fit in your purse.  If you are going to out of the house for 3 hours, you need to take a healthy snack.  Be prepared.  This way you won't go overboard on calories or foods you normally wouldn't eat.  I like to make a couple of meals in advance.  It doesn't always happen, but I try to get something ready for a night when time is crunched.  Then I can pull it out of the freezer, pop it in the oven and go on.

4)  Lay out your clothes the night before.  Have your workout bag packed if you go to the gym.  Get everything ready and then you won't be rushing in the mornings.  Also, this will remind you that you need to workout.  Put it where you will see it first thing.  I recommend working out first thing in the morning.  Who knows what is going to happen with your day.  Get it out of the way and then you can't make any excuses!

5)    Don't have time for a full workout - get in little things when you can.  Put on some music and dance around while cleaning the kitchen or house.  Do commercial cardio - when watching tv, when the commercials come one, get up and move - pushups, crunches, jumping jacks, jog in place, march - whatever it takes to get you moving and burning calories.  Play a quick game of horse with your kids, walk around the block.  Just move for the time you have.  It doesn't have to be formal.  I think it is especially important to move if you are sitting at a desk for long periods of time!  Get the kids involved.  This gets them into the healthy habits as well!

6)  Keep your food journal.  Be aware of what you are eating.  How many calories you are taking in.  If you don't want to keep it in a notebook check out some of the great online tools.  I use a bodybugg and take advantage of their website ( you do have to pay to use it), but there are great free sites that allow you to do the same thing.  Sparkpeople, My Fitness Pal, Calorie King.  Find one you like and use it!  When you see exactly what you are eating, you will know where you need to make changes.

Our health is so important.  If you don't make the time for yourself, you won't be around for those that love you and need you.  Do it for them!  Do it for yourself!  You will be glad you did!!!

Discussion:  how do you incorpate healthy habits into your busy life?

Tomorrow I will be issuing an ongoing challenge that will help you to stay motivated, healthy and happy!

Carolina Pad Giveaway!

Good Morning!  I'm so sorry that I haven't been posting.  My computer is down and I have to use Brian's when it is available.  I am hoping to get my computer fixed this week.  It's really been hard trying to get any work done ( most of my work is done online) and I'm going through withdrawal!

We had a great time at the lake last weekend.  I think it should be a 4 day weekend every week!!!

If you have been reading my blog for long, you know how I love to journal.  I keep a pretty detailed journal with my food log, workouts, to-do list and goals.  I also include a gratitude statement every day!  I find that when I do this, I stay on track, get more done and accomplish those goals quicker.

Carolina Pad recently sent me some adorable journals, notebooks and business card holders.  These would be a great graduation gift, or just great for you to start your own journal.  Brian is going to start keeping a journal of our trips.  I think this is a GREAT idea and can not wait  to read what he has to write.  He's pretty talented in so many ways, but he is one really funny storyteller!

Carolina Pad offers so many other items besides journals and you will definitely get organized using these products.  They are so cute and come in so many beautiful colors!  Be sure to check out the Carolina Pad webstore to purchase these adorable items!  I am in love with the yellow flip notes!  It fits perfectly in my purse.  I can make notes, take my grocery list with me or write down phone numbers and email addresses of  people I meet!

Be sure to check out Carolina Pad on Facebook and Twitter!

I am going to give away the Executive Series Ideal Padfolio so you can start keeping your own journal!  I'm so excited for this giveaway it is one close to my heart.  I truly believe ifyou keep a journal you do better in life!

Dr. Michael Roizen  recently did an article in Success magazine.  In this article he states that he keeps a gratitude journal.  He stated that keeping a gratitude journal can make your stress hormones plummet.  Positive attitudes aid in recovery from disease.  Your mind and your body are connected!  You can change your attitude and change your outlook on life to get the things you want!
