Fun Friend Weekend!

It's always fun to get together with friends.  Especially friends you haven't seen in a while.  I think that one of the best things about facebook is that I have connected with so many of my friends I had lost touch with since high school!

Saturday, I met up with Robin and Patty!  We had a good time catching up, seeing photos of kids and furry babies and just hanging out!

Brian and I also visited the George Washington Carver National Park.  We hadn't been there and decided to venture over and take a look around.  I think it would be gorgeous in the spring when everything is in bloom.

We have decided that there are plenty of things to see locally that we need to check out.
If you have a favorite local place, be sure to share it with me!  We love a good adventure!

Today started my 90 Day Health Challenge.  90 days of clean eating, working out and getting healthy.  I did ChaLEAN Extreme this morning and after more than an hour, my arms and legs are still shaky!  I love that.  Finished up with my results and recovery and muscle formula.  I am planning on seeing some GREAT results!

Not sure if you are aware of it or not, but I have started another business.  I am working with Nerium.  It is an anti-aging night treatment.  There are some really good results happening and I love it.  If you are local and would like to try a sample for 5 days, please get in touch with me.  I tell you, you will NOT be sorry!  My skin is so smooth and age spots are fading, pores are shrinking and lines are filling in!  YAY!

How was your weekend?  Do anything fun?

This week is going to FLY by!

Goodness, I am just now getting to sit down for a minute.   It's been a busy day to say the least, but I know that my whole week is going to be that way and it is going to fly by!

Started my morning off with my shake - I really need to get to the store because I am completely out of fruit.  So, it was just a plain ol' peanut butter shakeology - I forget how wonderful that tastes!!!  Just like a Reese's Cup.

Workout this morning was TurboFire Fire 30 and ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 1.  Then I hit the ground running.  We are getting taxes ready for the accountant to finish up, then we rented a duplex, we ran errands, and then I was starving.

Lunch was a big salad with veggies and hummus and balsamic vinegarette and some portabello chili with a couple of crackers.

I love soups and chilis.  I could eat it everyday.  Maybe I will for a while... mmmmm, broccoli soup is sounding pretty good for tomorrow....

Then we were off again......   I had a phone call for Beachbody work and got my homework and then just got it done.  I really decided that if it was going to get done, I needed to do it right away.  So, it is DONE!

Then it was more errands and dinner - another shake.  This time I made the chocolate bee - it was so good.  I will definitely make it again.  Chocolate shakeology, 1 tbsp almond butter and 1 tsp honey.  Delish!

A girlfriend came over and we did a little shopping.  I got the tablecloths and napkins for the big shindig at my house on Thursday!  We are hosting the rehearsal dinner, it's going to be laid back, thank goodness, but I still want it to be very nice for Nick and Lauren.  A trip with a girlfriend just isn't the same without a stop at the bookstore.  I love bookstores.  I could be in there forever, however, I felt like I was cheating on the kindle a bit.....  I didn't buy anything.  I have gotten so MANY free books lately that I don't need anything else right now.  But I love to browse and get some good ideas.  AND I had a great decaf ginger peach tea!

We always have a great time - check out this hat I found
No, I didn't buy it.  I may regret that decision later.....  nah.....

So, now I'm sitting down for a few, watching the Real Housewives and getting this blog post done.  My goal is to post every day this week, I hope I can meet that goal!  I'll do my best!

Countdown is on....

Hard work is paying off!

Wow, it's been another busy day.  I started off waking up feeling refreshed, I LOVE that!!  Doesn't happen very often for me!!!

I had my shakeology - chocolate with peanut butter and honey

and then did my workout - Turbofire Core 20 and Stretch 40.  I love both of those.  I needed that stretch......

Then it was on the run for the rest of the day.  I had a dentist appt, hair appt and lunch with Brian and Nick.  I had the BEST salad, it was a build your own.  I ordered it with everything but no meat or cheese.  This is what I got!  Amazing!

I had to get one of my Turbofire workouts polished, it kept skipping and was annoying me, so I'm hoping that this will work!  I'll find out in the morning!!

Brian and I ran errands and I was STARVING, we got home and I had my fruit for snack and then I did my afternoon workout - Burn Circuit 2 from ChaLEAN Extreme.  I can't believe how much I was sweating by just lifting weights  - go heavy or go home!!!

It seems to be working, the scale is going down and I feel so much lighter.  YAY!  All this hard work is paying off!

Then I had my second shake for the day - Brian got to pick the flavor - big surprise - peanut butter and banana.....

I've been on the treadmill to get the last of my steps in and I have read my book, watched some football and been on a training call.

This wedding is causing me to get some things done and it is a good thing!  We are on the countdown!!!   9 DAYS!!!

Nick and Lauren:

Where's that list.....

Whoo-wee, I got a LOT done today.  I am starting to get in a bit of panic over the wedding and had to stop and breathe today.  I realize that things will get done.....

Brian is trying to hide, he knows my honey-do list is LONG!!!

Morning started off with my Shakeology - pb and banana mixed with water, delish!  Then workout - TurboFire 55 EZ (so not easy, I really had to tell myself that I was NOT TIRED!!)  Then hit the shower and got in the office to get caught up on a few things.

Lunch was homemade tomato soup, a glob salad (glob of hummus is a Brian salad specialty from the old Isadora days) loaded with carrots, tomatoes, avocado and balsamic vinagrette and whole wheat bread with earth balance and a sprinkle of garlic powder.  YUM!   Miss those days and people from Isadora's....

Brian and I ran some errands and got a bed for Jake's old room.  Mom - you WILL have a place to sleep when you visit :)  They are going to deliver it on Thursday and that is one big thing marked off my wedding to-do list.  Now, to shop for bedding, that is the fun part!

Snack today was grapes.  I was hungry, but it worked and then it was afternoon workout time.  ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Circuit 1.  My arms and legs were shaking like crazy and it was a good workout.

Then I was REALLY starving, so we had our second shake!  This time it was the chocolate with honey and peanut butter. It was good.  See the above photo, it didn't look much different :)

I've had a ton of water, but I haven't been able to keep an accurate count since Brian is sharing with me.

We just got home from running a few more errands and a quick stop at the casino.  I lost, Brian won, it was a wash!

Now, I'm tired and need to read my 10 pages of personal development.  I'm reading The Four Agreements again.  I really love that book!

Our Facebook Book Club is in full swing and we are reading our first book - Sleep Tight by Anne Frasier.  It's good so far and I've had to make myself stop reading and I wasn't ready to do that!  We start our discussion of the first 5 chapters tomorrow.  If you are interested in joining in the fun, I need a friend request from you on facebook and I can get you added to the group!  We are going to be reading all kinds of books!  We are trying to focus on the free books for the kindle or nook apps.  This way everyone can participate!

How has your day been?  Eating clean?  Exercise?  Drink your water?

I'll be posting my food/exercise and then at the end I'll post my results.  I have a pretty lofty goal to be in shape for the wedding.  I'll do better on the photos of food tomorrow!

Fun photo of my favorite soon-to-be-wed couple!

Adorable!

Fit Club Tuesday!

Good Tuesday!  That means another Fit Club!  I love Tuesdays, I get to workout with my friends!  There is nothing better than getting healthy together!

Remember that we are at my house for the next month or so.  I'll be finding another location soon, but in the meantime......

Fit Club Workout

We are doing the BEST OF CHALENE JOHNSON this month!  We've TurboFire'd, Chalean Extreme'd and Turbo Jam'd.  So tonight we will be mixing it all up!  I'm thinking a little Jam first and then some abs (CE) and stretch (TF).  I think we can work all 3 in tonight!

Fit Club Recipe:

Strawberry Salad with marinated tofu

I LOVE strawberry salads.  I make them frequently and they are so easy and I can change them up according to what I have on hand.  Plus, they are so pretty!

This one is mixed greens, red onion, sliced almonds, strawberries and mandarin oranges (canned, drained).

Marinated tofu:

I used the cubed tofu, drained.

in a shallow bowl (pie plate works great too), I added bragg's liquid amino's, liquid smoke, chopped garlic, chopped onion, couple drops of tobasco sauce, dash of lemon juice.  Put the tofu in the bowl, pour the sauce over it and make sure all of it is covered.  Stir several times and leave it for at least an hour.

When the tofu is marinated to your liking, you can bake it or saute it.  I sauteed mine.  I put a little bit of olive oil in the pan and then dumped the whole tofu and marinade in the pan.  I cooked it until the liquid was gone.

I put that on top of the strawberry salad and then used a balsamic dressing on top of that!

Equal parts balsamic vinegar and olive oil.  Add spices to your liking.

Then eat and enjoy!

So YUMMY!

Fit Club Tuesday!

FIT CLUB TUESDAY!!!

It's another Tuesday!!!  We are still celebrating the BEST of Chalene Johnson.  This means that we are doing my favorite workouts from Turbo Jam, ChaLEAN Extreme and TurboFire!  These are my favorite workouts and of course I love sharing them with you!

Tonight we are doing either Dynamic Flow Yoga from ChaLEAN Extreme or 3T from Turbo Jam and HIIT 15 from TurboFire.  It's going to depend on how many show up and what I feel like doing.......bwaaa haa haaa!!

This morning I did my workout.  I am doing the CE/TF rotation and loving every minute of it.  I did Burn it Off and Extreme Abs.  I am pretty sure I'll be feeling that one tomorrow morning!  I was dripping sweat everywhere!

FIT CLUB RECIPE:

I want to share this SUPER Easy recipe from fitnessista.com for protein cookie balls!  She calls them amaze balls and I AGREE!!

So easy to make, I made just a few small changes, but want to make sure she gets the credit for the recipe!

AMAZEBALLS

So I made these last night with the thought in mind for the post today.  However, they were gone before I could take a photo.  You'll just have to trust me that these are THAT good!  I'll make another batch and get the photo before I allow Brian anywhere near them!

2 T vanilla or chocolate protein powder ( I like Sun Warrior or SHAKEOLOGY, my first choice)
2 T almond or natural peanut butter
2 T shredded coconut (unsweetend is best)
1 T pure maple syrup or honey or brown rice syrup
pinch of sea salt, Stevia and cinnamon

1. In your food processor, add the protein powder, almond butter, coconut, and pulse until the ingredients are mixed

2.  Add the cinnmon, sea salt, Stevia and Sweetener and pulse again.  Mix will start to clump together

3.  Add in chocolate chips ( I really like the Enjoy Life Semi Sweet Mega Chunks), dried fruit (cranberries are yummy) or any other things you'd like (butterscotch chips are yummy, but not as healthy)  Pulse again to chop up the chocolate chips and whatever you've added in.

4.  Roll mixture into balls.  I like them smaller, but you can make them to your preference.

Save in a ziploc baggie and munch for a perfect pre or post workout snack!  Yummy and Healthy!

Fit Club Recipe:

I had a GREAT strawberry salad yesterday and decided to look for a recipe similar to share with you all.  I found this one in my cookbook collection:

Spinach and Strawberry Salad - Paula Deen (Paula Deen Celebrates)

1 10-12 oz pkg baby spinach, washed and dried
1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted
1 pint strawberries, hulled and quartered
1/2 med cucumber, peeled, seeded and finely diced

Dressing:
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 tbsp white wine vinegar
1/3 c sugar
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp poppy seeds

1.  In a large salad bowl, toss together the spinach, almonds, strawberries and cucumber.  In a small glass dish or jar with a tight fitting lid, combine the emon juice, vinegar, sugar, oil and poppy seeds.  Whisk in the glass dish or shake if using a jar.

2. Dress the salad right before serving.

Serves 8-10

Healthy Habits!

boIt is so good to be home, getting back into a routine and back to my good health habits!

Brian and I enjoyed our walks every day on vacation, so we have decided to continue those now that we are home.  We walked first thing this morning (wishing we were still walking on the beach) and then had our shake and after a little digesting, I did my TurboFire/ChaLEAN workout for the day.  Stretch 40. This is JUST what I needed today. My body is so tight and a little sore from all the sitting we did over the last two days in the car!

So, my new routine is as follows:

1)  Walking with Brian once or twice per day.  This will help me to get my steps in daily as well as having the best walking partner!!

2)  Following the TurboFire/ ChaLEAN Extreme workout routine.  This will allow me to get the best of both worlds - cardio and weight training!  I need weights back in my life!

Chalene Johnson inspires me!  I need that positivity in my life!!

3)  Eat clean.  I will be focusing on veggies and fruits.  Atleast one Shakeology per day and hopefully a green drink per day as well.  No processed foods, less eating out, less alcohol.

4)  Move - I need to move more thoughout the day.  I think the plan I have is going to work!!

I am so ready to establish my new healthy habits!  If you want to join in with me, please feel free.  Sign up for a free account (if you don't already have one) at my website and then we can get you started on the right foot!  Free Fitness Coaching?, yes please!!!

Discussion:  Do you have a plan in place?  I really think that makes all the difference in the world!

Fit Club Workout:

ChaLEAN Extreme - Burn it Off!

I love this one.  It is going to get our heart rates up and you will feel it tomorrow!  That is always a good thing.  I will show you how to modify the moves so if you are beginner you can still participate!

ChaLEAN Extreme®

Get ready to burn fat, boost your metabolism, and get lean with ChaLEAN Extreme, the extreme workout system from Chalene Johnson. It’s a fact: The more lean muscle you have, the more fat you burn. You can lose up to 60% of your body fat in just 3 months and see visible results every 30 days, because MUSCLE BURNS FAT®.

Fit Club Recipe:

Avocado Sandwich

These sandwiches are so tasty! It is from my favorite restaurant that is no longer around.  That makes me sad!  Bethany is an amazing chef and I got a LOT of great ideas from her.

I like to toast my bread first, but you don't have to.  I also like to use whole grain bread.  Pumpernickel or rye are very good!

spread the toasted bread with hummus or cashew garlic spread (recipe in the Vegan World Fusion Cuisine cookbook by Mark Reinfeld, Bo Rinaldi and the Chefs of The Blossoming Lotus)

sprinkle with pumpkin or sunflower seeds

top with 1/4 avocado slices.  fan them out so they look really pretty!

sprinkle with chili powder or Parma or nutritional yeast

Enjoy!

Yesterday's eats:

Breakfast: Chocolate Shakeology made with 8 oz almond milk and 1/2 scoop of vegan protein powder

Lunch:  veggie stir fry with brown rice, tofu and black eyed peas

Snack:  I was wanting pickles for some strange reason, so I had a couple of spoonfuls of potato salad with dill pickle relish on top

Dinner:  Avocado Sandwich and side salad with Brianna's salad dressing

I was still wanting something.  I waited 20 mins and decided to have a little Soy Dream with Ahlaska chocolate sauce and 1/2 banana - perfect way to end the day!

I had 64 oz of water and 1 glass of lemonade iced tea

Workout was Body Gospel's Gospel Glory!

The Vegan World Fusion Cuisine is one of the most beautiful cookbooks I have. I love it and use it often. Check it out!!

Fit Club Monday

It's Monday and that means time for another Fit Club Edition!  I love Monday's.  New start and for me a get back to my regular routine day!  I love going on vacation, but I need to get back to more vigorous workouts!  This morning was TurboFire 45 and Stretch 10.  Loved every minute of it and burned 451 calories so far.  I was wearing my Puma Cardiac heart rate monitor (review to come tomorrow!) and it was working overtime!!!

Tonight's Fit Club is going to be Chalean Extreme Dynamic Flow Yoga.  I need a little stretching and movement all together and this is the perfect workout for it!  This workout is part of the Deluxe version of CE.

Dynamic Flow Yoga -  Lengthen and strengthen your muscles for a long, lean silhouette with this energizing workout. (40 minutes)

If you are in the Los Angeles area, you have to go to the TurboFire Launch Party.  I so wish I could go, but I already have a trip to CA planned for late Aug, and can't go this time around.

Here's the details:

Fit Club Recipe

one of our favorite go-to meals is pizza.  It's so quick and easy!  This is my favorite right now (it changes all the time!)

I use Mama Mary's pizza crust.  It is so easy, they come in large ones (2 per package) or the small ones (3 per pkg).  The small ones are great, just the right amount and I don't tend to overeat!

I also use tomato sauce.  I like the basil, garlic and oregano version!

Spread the tomato sauce on the pizza crust and add your toppings.

Black olive, basil and onion with Daiya mozzarella cheese is on my list of favorites right now, but you can add whatever toppings you like.  Brian is in love with BBQ chicken.  ( red onion, chicken (already cooked), black olives and a drizzle of BBQ sauce over the top with cheddar and mozzarella cheeses).  I'm using the basil out of my garden.  It is one of the things that is doing great!  Yay!

Bake in the oven as directed on the pizza crust package and enjoy!  This is what we'll be having for lunch or dinner tonight, so I'll be sure to post a photo!  They look delicious and they are!

Discussion:  what is your favorite go-to recipe/dish/meal?

muscle burns fat!

I just love Chalene Johnson!  She is so motivating and truly wants us to be healthy and happy!  If you have done her Turbo Jam videos, you know that she is so full of energy and peppy!  I know that I have mentioned it before (probably many times over), but Turbo Jam is what got me started back on my physical fitness journey.  It is so much fun, you don't even feel like you are working out, it's a blast!  I liked it so much that I even got certified to teach TurboKick ( the live version of Turbo Jam) and piyo ( a combo of pilates and yoga, it's unlike any pilates or yoga you've ever been to!)    Check out Chalene Johnson on twitter or facebook and be sure to watch her motivational videos on youtube!

Chalene came out with ChaLEAN Extreme a little over a year ago and it is another favorite!  In this workout she talks about muscle burning fat!  You will not bulk up from lifting weights, you will get lean muscle mass and look GREAT!

ChaLEAN Extreme is a 90 day program that will boost your metabolism and have you burning body fat like crazy!  15 workouts and a motivational cd by Chalene and a healthy eats and  kitchen makeover dvd.  You also get a meal plan and recipes that will help you reach your goals!

I have done 1 round of this program and will be doing it again when I finish the current program of P90X and Slim in 6.  I highly recommend this workout if you like to lift weights and want to see great results!

The meal plan is heavy on animal products.  I think it can be subbed for a vegetarian or vegan plan, but it will take some modifications.

High Fiber Breakfast Muffin

1 - 1/2 cups wheat bran fiber
1 cup low-fat buttermilk
1/3 cup canola oil
1 egg
2/3 cup brown sugar, unpacked
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
12 paper muffin liners

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Line 12 muffin cups with paper muffin liners.  Mix the wheat bran and the buttermilk and allow to stand for 10 mins.  Then beat the oil, egg, sugar and vanilla and ad this to the bran mixture.  In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.  Sift the flour mix into the buttermilk mix and combine, but do not overmix.  Then fold in the walnuts.  Spoon batter into muffin tins and bake for 15 - 20 mins or until a toothpick inserted in a muffin comes out clean.  Serve 1 muffin with 1/2 cup cottage cheese or 1 egg for breakfast.

Previewing this workout tonight at Fit Club!  If you are in the area, please let me know and I'll get you info on our local Fit Club!  Try the workout, you will love it!  Muscle truly does burn fat!

Chalean Extreme Push 2

I did push 2 last night with my workout buddies! We had a good time, worked out hard and sweat a lot!

I have really increased my weights. I am lifting 9 lbs for the flys, and using 24 lbs for the lower body workouts. I am ready to bump up to 30 lbs for the next lower body workout. I never thought I'd be lifting this heavy. I LOVE IT! The balance lunges with weights were hard last night. You lunge forward, lift the back leg into a dead lift. I can tell that I haven't been doing as much yoga, my balance is not as good as it used to be. Time to get busy with yoga again.

I'm still waiting on the fit bit to be released. I'm really looking forward to getting it. I had a really good pedometer, but can't find it since we moved. I know it is here somewhere, but not sure where. The Fit Bit does so much more. I can't wait to get my hands on one!!!!

Be sure and check out my webpage for all kinds of info on fitness and nutrition. www.missourifitclub.com.

I am looking to add 3 people that want to make some serious money working from home. If you are interested, please contact me at dana@missourifitclub.com. You must be wanting to work 5-10 hours per week, be willing to workout and use the products.

I'll post tomorrow about Burn Intervals and Extreme Abs!

Feb 2, 2009

Wow, it's been a long time since my last post. We have been so busy this month. All of my boys have their birthdays in Jan., we have had a couple of ice storms and lots of regular work going on.

I have finished my first month of Chalean Extreme. I start the push phase today! I will be taking my measurements tonight. I know that I didn't lose any weight, but then again, I didn't really change my diet much. I think I'm still in holiday mode, so that is changing today! It's back to basics for me. I do think I have lost some inches, so only the tape will tell.

I am sooo wanting to get the fit bit! Here's the info on it:

You can wear the Fitbit Tracker loosely in your pocket, clipped to your pants, shirt, bra or to your wrist when you are sleeping. You can wear it all day!

The Fitbit Tracker is wireless. Walk within 25-50ft of the provided basestation and your data will be automatically uploaded to the Fitbit website. The auto-sync software runs on both Macs and PC's.

View calories, steps and distance on the Fitbit Tracker itself. You can login to the Fitbit website to see even more detailed data and also participate in collaborative fitness goals with friends, family and co-workers.

It is supposed to be available the first quarter of 2009. I'll let you know when it is available.

I'll be posting more often again, I need to stay on track with my exercise and my eating for sure.

I'll post again after I get through my first push phase workout! I'll be in WOWY, the online super gym at 5:30 PM CT. I'd love to have you join me. Sign up for no charge at http://www.missourifitclub.com/

ChaLEAN Extreme!

I got my ChaLEAN Extreme after a long wait, but it is so worth the wait. The packaging is great, it contains the workout dvd's, the Muscle Burns Fat guidebook and the Fat Burning Food Guide, the fat calipers and the Beachbody Thigh Toner (stretchy band that you tie a knot in).
This has been one of the most anticipated workouts from Beachbody in a long time. There will be launch parties held all over the country on Jan 3rd. If you need to find one in your area, let me know and I'll get on the search.
Chalene Johnson has really outdone herself on this one. Several of the test group members lost 60% body fat in 90 days! Oh my, that is impressive. Hard to believe, but it has happened. Now, it is your turn to give it a try and see what kind of results you can get. Who knows, you could even win the Beachbody Success Story of the year and win up to $250,000. What are you waiting for?
The DVD's that are included are as follows:

Burn Basics

Band Basics

Healthy Eats and Kitchen Makeover

Burn Circuit 1

Burn Circuit 2

Burn Circuit 3

Push Circuit 1

Push Circuit 2

Push Circuit 3

Lean Circuit 1

Lean Circut 2

Lean Circut 3

Burn it Off

Recharge

Burn Intervals

Ab Bruner

Extreme Abs

Extreme Motivation (Audio CD)

This is going to be a fun journey!!!

I watched the Healthy Eats and Kitchen Makeover. It is good, has great ideas for packaging snacks, has some great looking recipes and just good information. 3 recipes are included on the DVD - turkey chili, chocolate desert and a protein shake.

I did the first workout - Burn circuit 1. I used the Beachbody resistance bands, just to see if I wanted to use them or the weights. I used the red band. I found the bands a bit clumsy to use and felt like I would get a better workout with the weights. I was messing with the bands and then trying to get caught up on the moves. Most of the moves are 12 reps. You lift slow and precise. You really feel the burn. The extreme moves at the end are KILLER. Those slow pushups after already doing all the arm/shoulder work are just HARD!!!!!

I loved the workout. I wasn't very sore the next day, again thinking that I need to use the weights to get a more effective workout (for me). I know that I am looking forward to the next workout - Burn Circuit 2.

The guidebook lists the workout schedule that you will follow for the next 90 days. Just think 90 days and I can have the body that I have always dreamed about. It doesn't seem possible, but I know that hard work, sweat and ChaLEAN Extreme will get me there.

Yoga Flex

Today I did Long and Lean again and then followed it up with Yoga Flex by Kathy Smith's Project: You type 2. Yoga flex is a quick yoga workout. It gets the kinks out and I felt really good afterwards. It starts with a cat stretch and then works into down dog and up dog/cobra. We then moved into lunges and prayer, triangle and then got on the floor for some hamstring work. I really needed that, my hamstrings are always so tight. We ended with corpse pose. The workout is about 25 minutes long and just a great way to end a cardio or strength training session.

Tomorrow starts One on One with Tony Horton. I really like these workouts. Tony makes things fun and he's pretty goofy in these!

I'll be back with a post about the new ChaLEAN Extreme workouts that are for sale TODAY!!!!
