Yesterday Brian had his checkup with the ortho doc in Springfield. We left with hopes that the crutches would be going bye-bye, just like last time. No pictures this time, Brian said it's a little disappointing to see how hopeful he is only to be sorry later. Oh well, I tried. This is his pity party, not mine, I guess I'll play by his rules.
We got to Springfield in time to enjoy a little lunch. It seems that we always eat at Zio's when we go there and it was good! I love their bread and the dipping oil! YUM!
We finished up in time to head over to the dr's office. It wasn't very crowded and in no time we were talking to him and looking at the x-rays. For those of you that don't know, Brian was in a motorcycle accident on July 31. He broke both his legs, his hand and had a few internal injuries. The doc was happy with his left leg (broken femur) and told him he could start putting full weight on it as tolerated and get off the crutches in 2-3 weeks. Brian proceeded to tell him that he'd probably be off the crutches in a week. He thinks he can do everything faster ( might be why he had the accident??? just sayin')
We stopped at Akins for a few items. I have to say that I was disappointed in Akins. They didn't have 3 of the things I wanted and when you have to drive all that way, I just expect they should have it. Not fair of me I know, but it is what it is!
We headed home and last night Brian took a few steps without the crutches. His leg is weak and sore when he walks, but he did it!
So, now we just wait for the right leg to finish healing. The doc told us that it is looking like another procedure is needed, but we'll be waiting until after the new year begins.
Congratulations! That is good news!
