Fit Club Monday is moving!

I am so excited that Fit Club Monday is moving to Tuesday!  It will be Fit Club Tuesday from now on!

I have teamed up with the City of Carl Junction for the next few weeks and will be offering my Fit Club Classes at the Community Center!!  This should be great.  More people can attend and we will have more room and a better floor!  This makes me happy!!!

So, the details:

Tuesday  - 7 PM
Carl Junction Community Center
Workout to be determined, but will always be cardio
Bring a mat, towel and water

I hope that you will decide to join.  As usual, there is NO CHARGE for the classes!  Come, have fun and let's get healthy together!

Yesterday, we went to the RV show, shopping at Bass Pro Shops and then had a great lunch!!  I so enjoy my time with Craig and Hermina.  We always have so much fun.

Today, I am re-commiting to my health and fitness goals.  I have let a lot of things slack and slip over the summer.  I've had so much fun, but I need to get back on track.  I am going to tow the line!  That isn't to say I won't be having fun, it will just be a little different kind of fun!

Brian and I are commiting to 30 days of exercise and clean eating.  We are going to call each other out when one of us slips up and get each other to those goals!  I'll be documenting our journey here.  If you want to join us, please do so.  We would love some company.  I still have my Turbo Fire Challenge thread going.  We can post over there, we can also post on my Feeling Fit with Dana facebook page.  Let's all join together and reach those goals!

We will all be jumping for joy!!!

Discussion:   What are your goals and how do you plan to reach them?  Do you keep your to-do list?

Fit Club Monday

I am finally home and have my internet back.  As much fun as we had at the lake, I am glad to be home.  I have a busy week ahead and need to get back to my regular workout schedule!  I finished the 5 day Inferno Plan, but I did have a slip up over the weekend, so I plan to re-do day 5 tomorrow!!

Fit Club Workout:

Brazil Butt Lift

I got to workout with Leandro at the Beachbody Summit.  This is not an easy workout, but you will get great results!

Trainer to world-famous supermodels, Leandro Carvalho combines Brazilian dance, cardio, and his own signature lower-body sculpting moves to lift, firm, and shape your behind for a rear view you've only dreamed about.

Fit Club Recipe:

Healthier Fried Rice

In a saute pan - 1 tbsp or so of olive oil, add in the veggies you like - ( onion, carrots, bell pepper, broccoli , cauliflower - whatever you have on hand), saute until cooked tender-crisp

Add in some tomatoes and pineapple chunks and cook until the tomatoes soften a bit.Add in tofu ( I like to pre-cook mine with a little soy sauce)  Then stir in about 1 cup of cooked brown rice.  Add in 1 cup coconut milk ( you can use light if you want), soy sauce and curry powder to taste. Cook to desired crispness.

Add chopped cashews on top to add a little crunch.  Very tasty!

If you are a meat-eater, add in chicken or shrimp that is already cooked and scramble in one egg if you want!
Enjoy!

Fit Club Monday - TurboFire Challenge Edition

Another fresh start this beautiful Monday.  It's a clean slate, what will you do with your week?  I am going to have a full week.  I have Brian's dr. appt today.  This means travel, but we are hoping for a full release today.  Brian so wants to play golf again.  I hope and pray that he will be able to.  My birthday is this week, I will be 45!!  Hard to believe, I remember when I thought 45 was old.  Now, I know that it is means I am just getting started!

Since my birthday is coming up, I'm going to do a TurboFire Challenge!  I would love for you to join me.  It will be farily simple. Do the workouts, take your measurements and weight, follow the food plan and get in the best shape of our lives.  I'll be taking my before photos as well. We are starting out with the Inferno Plan and then switching over to the food plan from there.  Even if you don't have TurboFire, please feel free to join in the challenge.  You can do whatever workout you like, I don't care, just workout every day and eat clean.  We will be posting on the message boards daily with our progress, any questions you may have and talk about anything and everything.  Check out the thread here.  Daily accountibility will help you get the best results.  We are not going to judge anyone,.  It's just a way to help each other get better results!

Purchase Turbo Fire.

"What positive things have you said to yourself today?  Acknowledge your greatness." - Chalene Johnson

Fit Club Recipe:

Turbo Fire Inferno Plan Sneak Peek:

Turkey Avocado Wrap
3 slices turkey breast (approx 3.5 inches square or 3-4 oz)

1/2 tomato, diced
1/4 avocado, sliced
3 lettuce leaves or a handful of mixed greeens
1 Tbsp. nonfat Italian dressing

directions:  assemble all ingredients on top fo the tortilla and fold into a cone

I would change the turkey breast to either black beans or hummus.  Also, I would change out the dressing, using Annie's goddess dressing YUM!

Fit Club Monday - Traveling again

I am up getting ready to head to the airport.  It truly has been a life-changing weekend for me.  I can't wait to get home and implement all this into my life!  Not to mention the fact that I can NOT wait to see Brian.  I have missed him!!

Since I will be traveling today, there will not be a fit club tonight.

We made our dream notebooks while we were here.  I took a photo of mine.  I love the way it turned out. I know that some people are skeptic of dream or vision boards, but several of the things I put on mine from the beginning of the year have already happened.  Put your wish, dream or vision out there for the world to see and hear and think positively about it and it will happen!

I hope that you have a extraordinary day!

Fit Club Monday - livin life edition

It's Monday again, how did this happen????  We had so much fun over the weekend.  Our party was fun, we had fun and then rested yesterday.  I'm so not used to staying up until 1:30 in the morning!!!!

Got up this morning and really brought it with my workout!  TurboFire 55 EZ is not an easy workout.  Sweat like crazy and burned almost 500 calories!  I love that!  I really did earn my Shakeology today!

I will not be able to host Fit Club tonight.  Our friend passed away and we will be going to the visitation.  I am sad that Gene is gone.  Gene used to work with us at Ceilings and Walls, Inc. when we had our construction company.  We stayed in touch and saw him about a month ago when he was in the hospital.  He was in good spirits and I'm glad that we were able to chat for a while.  Gene, you will be missed for sure!!

This in combination with the anniversary of Brian's accident has really made me more aware of the fact that we need to be living our lives!  After Brian's accident, we decided that we were not going to wait for the right time to come to do what we wanted to do.  It's never the right time.  No more waiting because you don't know what tomorrow will bring.  So, hug your family and friends, tell them that you love them daily.  Live your life like you want to.  Don't wait for the "right" time.  It doesn't come!

Fit Club Recipe:

Smore's Shakeology

1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology
8 oz almond milk
1 tbsp rice mellow creme
1 graham cracker
ice

Blend all ingredients in the blender to desired consistency.  Enjoy!!  320 calories!

Fit Club Monday

It's Monday and that means time for another Fit Club Edition!  I love Monday's.  New start and for me a get back to my regular routine day!  I love going on vacation, but I need to get back to more vigorous workouts!  This morning was TurboFire 45 and Stretch 10.  Loved every minute of it and burned 451 calories so far.  I was wearing my Puma Cardiac heart rate monitor (review to come tomorrow!) and it was working overtime!!!

Tonight's Fit Club is going to be Chalean Extreme Dynamic Flow Yoga.  I need a little stretching and movement all together and this is the perfect workout for it!  This workout is part of the Deluxe version of CE.

Dynamic Flow Yoga -  Lengthen and strengthen your muscles for a long, lean silhouette with this energizing workout. (40 minutes)

If you are in the Los Angeles area, you have to go to the TurboFire Launch Party.  I so wish I could go, but I already have a trip to CA planned for late Aug, and can't go this time around.

Here's the details:

Fit Club Recipe

one of our favorite go-to meals is pizza.  It's so quick and easy!  This is my favorite right now (it changes all the time!)

I use Mama Mary's pizza crust.  It is so easy, they come in large ones (2 per package) or the small ones (3 per pkg).  The small ones are great, just the right amount and I don't tend to overeat!

I also use tomato sauce.  I like the basil, garlic and oregano version!

Spread the tomato sauce on the pizza crust and add your toppings.

Black olive, basil and onion with Daiya mozzarella cheese is on my list of favorites right now, but you can add whatever toppings you like.  Brian is in love with BBQ chicken.  ( red onion, chicken (already cooked), black olives and a drizzle of BBQ sauce over the top with cheddar and mozzarella cheeses).  I'm using the basil out of my garden.  It is one of the things that is doing great!  Yay!

Bake in the oven as directed on the pizza crust package and enjoy!  This is what we'll be having for lunch or dinner tonight, so I'll be sure to post a photo!  They look delicious and they are!

Fit Club Monday - travel edition

Since I am traveling, my workout routine is completely out of whack.  I had planned on doing my Turbo Fire workouts, just outside at the campground.  However, it is REALLY hot, the altitude has me out of breath very quickly, so I've had to adapt.  Brian and I are walking in the mornings, I'm doing some yoga and stretching and throwing in some ab workouts.  I don't have much room in the camper to workout, but I can do things in a small (very small) space.  I'm making it work and not worrying about it.  I know that I will be back to my regular workouts soon!

We are eating as healthy as possible and wanting to eat locally and try new things. We have done pretty good with that.  Shakeology for breakfast, packing our lunch for our day trips and then having dinner out.  We have had some great meals and I am surprised at how easy it is to find vegan options here.  I am so used to being home and trying to eat out means usually getting a plain baked potato and a side salad.  So, it is a nice treat for me.

Last night we ate at the Tuneup Cafe here in Santa Fe. It was GREAT!  They were on Diners, Drive-in's and Dives.  Brian loves that show and that was a bonus for him.  They had several options for vegan meals and Brian had a buffalo burger. We were both happy!

I had the vegan enchiladas.  They were filled with veggies and tofu and so tasty!

Fit Club Recipe:

Brian's Hummus Wraps

Brian made these yesterday to take on our trip to Madrid!  YUM!

1 whole wheat tortilla
hummus ( I really like Sabra brand)
veggies of choice - Brian used carrots, brocolli slaw, red onions
lettuce
tofurky slices (optional)
Daiya cheese shreds (optional)

Spread hummus on the tortilla, layer the veggies and the tofurkey and cheese.  Roll up and enjoy!

We also added lettuce and tomato when we were ready to eat them!

We have been trying to eat as much organic as possible.  Here is a quick video about organic foods from Beachbody:

Love your workout, be happy!

Good Morning!  It's another Fit Club Monday!  Are you happy with your progress?  Are you happy with your workouts?  If you aren't it is up to you to change things up.  If you are not getting the results you want and you have been doing the same workout for months, change things up.  Do what you love, but you have to change things around to keep your workouts fresh and your body and muscles guessing!  I really believe that your attitude goes a long way towards your progress, so find a workout that you love.  If you don't love working out, you just haven't found the right one yet!  When you do, you will know it right away!  Working out gives you endorphins and will help you to be happier!

This also goes for your diet.  If you are at a plateau, then change up your meals.  Vary your calorie intake daily and see what happens.  Have more calories one day and considerably less the next.  Find where your body is happy and then get down to business!  This is called calorie shifting.  I really like using body bugg's website to keep track of my calories, (be sure to keep a food journal as well so you remember what you have eaten and input it at the end of the day or as you eat each meal), but sparkpeople.com is a free site you can use to keep track of your calories.

If you are in my area, tonight it our Fit Club - 7 PM at my house.  Be sure to get in touch with me (email or on facebook or twitter) and I'll get you the info on how to attend!  There is no charge to come and workout with us each week and it is a great way to try some of the Beachbody workouts!  Trubo Fire is on the agenda tonight!  I am loving this workout.  It's everything I like, cardio, kickboxing, a little dance and resistance training, and can't forget the dreaded ab workout.  My abs hurt so bad after this week's ab routine!  Whew!  I love it!

Recipe:

Squash Casserole

One of my readers and good friend gave me this recipe!  It is tasty and I made just a few changes to it to make it dairy free!

Slice squash and zucchini and place in a greased pan

Add a layer of Daiya cheese ( or regular cheese if you eat dairy products )

Continue layering the squash and cheese and then sprinkle with bread crumbs ( the recipe calls for ritz crackers, I didn't have any!)

Bake covered with foil for 45 mins at 400 degrees F.  Uncover and let the top brown!

Enjoy!

Fit Club Monday - 4th of July edition!

We are just getting home from a fun weekend!  I am a little sunburned and a lot tired!  I love spending time with family and friends.  We had a GREAT 4th.  Great food, Brian made corn on the cob, potatoes and shrimp, I made some mac n cheese, kohlrabi, and fruit, and  Todd made his famous macaroni salad, Judy had some wonderful beer bread and Lisa made cookies and brownies!  It was such a good meal.  Something for everyone!

We hung out on the deck for a while and then loaded up the boat to watch the F-16 flyover and the fireworks.  Unfortunately, the flyover was canceled due to the weather.  Not sure if it was too windy or if it was rainy where they were flying in from.  We were a little disappointed, but the fireworks more than made up for it!

The girls got to para-sail finally this morning.  They loved it and we got some great photos of them!  It is so fun, I was wishing I could go again!

Tonight's fit club is once again Turbo Fire!  I am in love with this program.  It's like Turbo Jam and Insanity had a love child.  We are starting week 3 tonight!  I've had several cancel on tonight's workout, probably a little too much fun over the weekend or too sunburned to work out! If you'd like more info on how to purchase a copy of your own Turbo Fire, please email me or leave me a message!

Today's recipe is kohlrabi:

Take your kohlrabi - raw and slice it

spread the slices out in a dish and cover with extra virgin olive oil and spices.

I used a spice blend and used quite a bit of it.  It was really tasty.  The kohlrabi is a bit peppery and spicy, but I really liked it.  I think it would be great in salads and soups.

Discussion:  did you try a new food from your local farmer's market this weekend?  If so, what did you try and how did you prepare it?

Fit Club Monday - Turbo Edition

I just finished my Turbo Fire 45 and Stretch 10 workout.  I am loving this workout.  Even though my back is still bothering me, I am burning calories like crazy - 411 calories and still buring as I type this!!!  I modifying a lot of the moves.  I know that I'd be burning even more calories if I could go full blast!  The music is really good, the workout is good!

So, on this Fit Club Monday, what are you doing for your workout?  Remember, even walking is a good workout.  Just be sure to do something.  If you don't love working out, then you just haven't found the right workout yet!  If you are looking to find that perfect workout, let me know.  I can help you find something that you will look forward to doing!

You guys know how much I love journaling and think it is so important, and imagine how excited I was when I saw that the deluxe version of Turbo Fire came with a journal!

I like that it is small enough to carry in my purse.  I'll have it with me wherever I am so there is no reason not to keep track of my stats!

If you'd like to order your own Turbo Fire, just click here!  Remember if you see the infomercial on tv, please order from my site.  It's the same price and you get to have me as your coach!  I'd really appreciate it!  That goes for all Beachbody products!

Recipe:

Eggplant Stacks

I didn't get these made to take a photo yesterday as planned, but I am having a girlfriend over for lunch and we are going to make these today!  So yummy!

1 eggplant - sliced fairly thick
1 yellow squash or zucchini (your choice) also sliced fairly thick
olive oil
1 jar prepared spaghetti sauce
Daiya cheese
basil

Brush the eggpland and squash slices with olive oil.  Grill the eggplant and squash slices for a few minutes on each side until close to being cooked completely.  I had to just saute them in a sauce pan today, the gas grill doesn't have any gas AAGH!

On a cookie sheet - layer the eggplant and squash slices with spaghetti sauce in between the layers. I like 3 layers.  2 eggplant and 1 squash.  Top with more spaghetti sauce and the cheese and chopped basil.

Put in the oven - I like to broil them, but you could bake them, just to finish cooking and brown the top!

So tasty!  Enjoy!

Discussion:  Do you shop at the farmer's market?  I love going each weekend and LOVE the fresh, local produce!!!!  What is your favorite item to purchase?  This week, we bought fresh bread, blackberries, green beans and new potatoes, corn on the cob and onions.  Gonna be a GREAT meal!

Fit club Monday

Good Morning!  We stayed over one more night at the lake.  I am blogging from the deck, listening to the birds chirp and looking out over the water.  It is so peaceful and quiet first thing in the morning here and it isn't too hot yet.  It's been soo hot the last few days.  I even got a little overheated yesterday when we went out on the boat.  I didn't have enough water yesterday and sitting in the sun wasn't the greatest idea I've had in a while.  But, it was fun!

I have changed the time of Fit Club to 7 PM in hopes that more of you will be able to make it! For those of you that don't live in the area, we can always meet in WOWY, the online super gym.  When you join Team beachbody as a free member, you get access to WOWY. (Work Out With You).  You can log in to your account (get your free membership here and I'll be your coach!)  You don't have to do Beachbody workouts to enter WOWY.  You can walk, jog or swim  - whatever you like!  When you log your workouts, you have a chance to win cool prizes ( cash, ipods, camera, camcorders)

Today's Recipe:

Simple and easy - P B & J Oatmeal

Mix your oatmeal as usual ( I prefer to make mine with water).

Add in 1 Tbsp natural peanut butter and 1 tsp jam of choice.

I also add in a dash of almond milk.
Mix and enjoy!!!!

Discussion:  Do you think that having a prize or incentive makes you more likely to workout?  I think it certainly makes it more fun!!

Fit Club Monday

Good Monday Morning!  As you know I love Monday's.  It's a fresh start to a new week.  It you didn't like last week, here is a chance to have a do over!!!

I have been working out in the mornings - bright and early!!  It's hard to crawl out of bed at 5:30 when you haven't slept well, and my buddies decided not to brave the rain this morning and I slept on instead of getting up.  I'm okay with that, I'll still get my workout done today!

Do you like to get your workouts done first thing?  I really don't think there is a best time to workout, the best time is whenever you will do it.  Just make sure to get it done!  That is the important part!

Today's Featured Workout:

Turbo Fire!  I can not wait for this to come out - Only 4 more days!!!!

If you want to order it when it comes out on the 18th, head over to my website - missourifitclub.com and click on the shop button!  This one is GREAT.  We got to try it at summit and I  loved every minute of it!

Turbo Fire is the total-body, cardio-conditioning program with the best trainer, the best music, the best workouts and the best spot in class!

Today's Recipe:

Summer is here and I always look for great dips and hot weather recipes to stay cool and serve at parties!

Pico De Gallo - Neal Barnard, MD from The get healthy, go vegan cookbook!

This salsa is at its best wen absolutely fresh.  Serve with corn tortilla chips, as a topping for your favorite burrito or in a cheeseless quesadilla.

1 large sweet onion, such as Maui or Vidalia, chopped
15 Roma Tomatoes (about 2 lbs) chopped
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
1 cup firmly packed cilantro leaves and tender stems, chopped
1 tsp kosher salt
2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl and serve.

Discussion:  What is your favorite hot weather dish?    I love all kinds of dips, easy to make and easy to eat!

Fit Club Monday - Turbo Fire

Fit Club Monday is here again!  I had a great weekend and now I am ready to get back to my workout routine.  I do workout on the weekends, but it is not the same as my weekly workouts.  I may walk with hubby, do a DVD, or yoga.   I do get a lot more cleaning and working in the yard done on the weekends as well, and yes, that counts too! And, 1 day of the weekend is a rest day.  No formal workout at all.  I really believe that our bodies need a rest day every week.  I know that I ask a lot of my body throughout the week, so one day off is a good thing.  It allows the body to recover and repair.

We had a blast at the lake!  The kids came down with Madelyn and she had her first boat ride.  She wasn't very impressed either!  but she looked adorable in her bathing suit!

This week's featured Fit Club Monday workout:

Turbo Fire!

Turbo Fire will be available sometime in June, but One on One subscribers got a sneak peek video.  15 mins of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).  I have done this workout twice now and I can not wait for the full product to come out!  If you want to know when this is available, be sure to sign up here for the email notification!  Beachbody will send you an email when you can log on and purchase it!

Fit Club/Slim Club!

It's Monday and that means FIT CLUB!!!

I am using Slim in 6 along with P90X. I truly believe that Slim in 6 is one of the most effective workouts for women. Especially for the lower body. That is the area that I am focusing on right now. Trying my best to get ready for swim suit season. I usually dread putting on a swimsuit, but last year I bought the cutest swim shorts and I didn't have any of the negative self-talk going through my head! Problem solved!!! I also loved that I could add any type of top I wanted with them. I had several different looks and loved them all.

Debbie Siebers is a great trainer and she has some of the best ideas for working out while doing your daily chores. How about some vacuum cleaner lunges?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GkB0FgoOvM Check out Debbie's you tube channel for her half-ass workout tips of the day!

I've come up with a few of my own:

Toothbrush tummy tucks - while you are brushing your teeth, don't just stand there! Tighten those abs and tuck your booty under. Hold for a few seconds, release and repeat!

Dishwasher calf raises - when unloading the dishwasher, especially those items that go in the top cabinets, raise up on your toes and tighten the calf muscles. Go up and down several times per dish.

Baby raises - Work the arms while lifting the baby in the air, she will love it and you will get some great looking arms!

Stoplight challenge - when you are driving the car and come to a red light, tighten up all your core musles and try to hold it until the light turns green.

Squat Dusting - pretty self explanatory - do your squats and dust at the same time. Be sure to put the weight in your heels when you squat to protect your knees.

You'll be amazed how you can work exercise into your daily routine.

Today's recipe:

Lemon Creme (Crema Di Limone) Nonna's Italian Kitchen by Bryanna Clark Gorgan

1 (12.3 oz) box extra firm silken tofu, crumbled
1/3 cup Grade A maple syrup
3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp grated lemon zest ( preferably organic)

Blend the ingredients well in a blender, until very smooth. Chill in a covered sontainer.

Per 1/4 cup serving: calories - 68, protein - 3g, carbs - 11g, fat - 1 g

This simply delicious creme can be used as a pudding or atopping for fruit or cake. You can use low-fat tofu if you are counting calories.

fit club monday

It's Monday again, and that means - Fit Club Monday! I am getting a late start today since we decided to prolong our weekend at the lake. We squeezed every little bit we could and I love that! Just got home and wanted to be sure to keep you informed!

When you are trying to lose weight, working out or just wanting to be healthy, there is no better way than to increase your water intake. I know I talk a lot about water here, but it is that important. Staying properly hydrated during a workout is important, as we all know because your performance hinges on it. But how do you know how much is enough? Is it really possible to drink too much water?

P90X® Results and Recovery

Refuel, re-energize, and reduce muscle soreness with this after-workout shake. Four parts carbs to one part protein ensures speedy muscle repair after intense workouts!*

Recover faster and see better results!
This great-tasting shake is specially designed to provide the precise nutrients you need to recover quickly after intense workouts. P90X Results and Recovery Formula offers a unique mix of:
Simple and complex carbohydrates for optimum glycogen replenishment*
A high Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER) blend to provide the critical building blocks for rapid muscle resynthesis*
Vitamins, including antioxidants, to help reduce muscle soreness and assist in repair and growth*
Studies show that with proper nutrition during the first hour following a workout you can increase your body's ability to recover more than 100%. The key component to maximizing this "window of opportunity" is a formulation of approximately 4 parts carbohydrates to 1 part protein.

P90X Results and Recovery Formula is a state-of-the-art, great tasting, body-shaping cocktail that's guaranteed to take your workouts to the next level.

Today's Recipe:

Heart-Healthy Blueberry Smoothie - Thin Kitchen Recipe Book by Beachbody

1/2 cup fresh orange juice
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
ice

Place ingredients in a blender. Add ice and blend until smooth.

This smoothie makes a great immune booster when you are feeling worn down. Also serves as a grea afternoon pick-me-up.

Calories - 250, Fat total - 3 g, Sat Fat - 1 g, carbs - 39 g, fiber 5 g, protein 20 g (based on Beachbody whey protein powder)

Discussion: do you drink water during/after your workouts or do you feel you need a recovery drink. For me, it all depends on the workout I am doing. I LOVE the recovery drink. It is tasty - like an orange julius. As Tony Horton says - I workout just so I can drink the P90X recovery drink!!!
